DEFINITION:

The purpose of this position is to coordinate all phases of grant development, submission, and reporting processes with faculty, staff, administration, and college departments; to research and identify potential grant sources consistent with the mission of the College; and to keep the administration, faculty and staff informed of these opportunities. The Grants Manager ensures the preparation of comprehensive, well-written, and effective grant proposals that support College goals, and will work directly with College faculty and staff, program directors, deans and executive team leaders as necessary. Additionally, this role ensures all required grant reporting is completed in collaboration with the appropriate department faculty, staff, director and/or dean. As a Relationship Manager and a core member of CFCC Foundation’s fundraising team, this position requires the ability to think big, the consistent use of diplomacy and good judgment, as well as excellent writing and budgeting skills.

Receives supervision from the Executive Director of the Foundation. Exercises supervision over grant personnel. Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Act as a relationship manager with outside funders – including trusts, endowments, foundations and federal partners – in effort to align their funding priorities with those of the college and CFCC Foundation. Prepare, write, and submit applications, serving as primary author of grant proposals. Identify potential funding sources for the college, and prepare and maintain a calendar of due dates for potential funding sources. Serve as primary contact for compliance and reporting requirements related to funded grants. Work with associated departments to ensure compliance requirements and reporting deadlines are met. Research, identify, and monitor sources of potential funding, including federal, state, local agencies, the North Carolina Community College System, corporations, private foundations, and public foundations. Serve as the Authorized Organization Representative for federal grants. Initiate cooperative efforts that bring teams of faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners together to develop funding proposals that address college mission and needs, and that respond to the interest of funding sources. Maintain files of grant proposals including grant agreements, award letters, submittals etc. Develop relationships with grantors at the local, state, and national level. Work in conjunction with appropriate College leadership to secure any required matching funds and/or in-kind contributions as related to external funding. Collect and disseminate information about funding opportunities to faculty and staff; and promote grant opportunities and the proposal development process. May be required to chaperone grant-related field trips with students. General Expectations: Maintain strong working relationships with college administrators, faculty, staff and students that are of significance to the grant development function. Ability to work collaboratively as required and independently as required and maintain strong internal motivation. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Perform support work as assigned including special projects, special reports, responses to inquiries, etc. Serve on committees and provide administrative support when necessary. Qualifications

Must be able to understand and follow directions and complex policies and procedures; review and analyze data problems and suggest changes to data entry procedures in order to minimize data reporting errors; and handle confidential data. Knowledge of: Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations relating to grant-funded projects; Public and private funding and grant opportunities, including how to apply for, secure, and manage resources once received; Emerging trends in higher education and workforce development; Cultural diversity, ethnically represented groups, inclusiveness, and impacts associated with deliberations and decision-making. Ability To: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Think critically to maintain accuracy in complex documentation, as well as identify inconsistencies and inaccuracies in systems and databases. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:

Minimum Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree with requisite experience. Minimum Experience: Three to five years of successful grant development and grant management experience required or similar experience. Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills: Experience in writing grants and conducting research preferably in a higher education environment, proficiency in both written and oral communication, good organizational and interpersonal skills. Experience with state and federal grant writing preferred. Work experience in higher education preferred. Experience working with databases (Raiser’s Edge, Sales Force, etc.) Experience with electronic submission of grants and grant software (Fluxx, Cybergrants, etc). Proficient in Microsoft Office.
