Job Description

Create unforgettable experiences. Grow your career. Have fun doing it.

Are you a high school or college student curious about a career in hospitality, culinary, golf, or guest services? Join Grand View Lodge as a Hospitality Intern and get a behind-the-scenes look at what it really takes to run a world-class resort.

Position Overview:

As a Hospitality Intern, you'll:
  • Focus on one main department such as:
    • Guest Services / Front Desk
    • Golf Operations
    • Culinary / Kitchen
    • Or another area that fits your interests and our openings (Spa, Recreation, Housekeeping, etc.)
  • Provide excellent, memorable guest service that reflects Grand View Lodge's commitment to creating memories for guests, staff, and owners.
  • See what the "work" behind the scenes really looks like, whether that's greeting guests, prepping food, supporting golf operations, or assisting with resort services.
You'll learn a ton, have fun, and walk away with real experience you can use in future jobs, college applications, or a long-term hospitality career.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

(Specific duties vary by department placement.)

Guest Services / Front Desk If you love people, communication, and problem-solving:
  • Welcome guests with warmth, eye contact, and a smile
  • Assist with check-ins, check-outs, and guest inquiries
  • Answer questions about the resort, activities, dining, and local area
  • Help resolve guest concerns with professionalism and care
  • Support behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the lobby and front desk running smoothly
Golf Operations If you're passionate about golf, outdoor work, or sports operations:
  • Assist with guest check-in at the golf shop or starter area
  • Help with tee sheet organization, cart staging, and range set-up
  • Provide friendly service to golfers and help them feel welcome and prepared for their rounds
  • Support events, leagues, and tournaments as needed
  • Learn how golf operations, maintenance, and guest experience connect
Culinary / Kitchen If you're drawn to cooking, food, and the energy of a professional kitchen:
  • Help with food prep, plating, and station set-up under chef guidance
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and stocked
  • Practice food safety and sanitation at "inspection-ready" levels
  • Assist with closing and cleaning tasks at the end of service
  • Learn about timing, presentation, quality, and teamwork in a fast-paced kitchen
Other Departments (Based on Interest & Availability)

You may also express interest in areas like:
  • Housekeeping - learning about room readiness, cleanliness, and guest comfort
  • Recreation / Activities - helping set up and host guest activities and events
  • Spa / Wellness - supporting guest check-in and back-of-house operations (where available)
We'll do our best to match your interests with our business needs and openings.

What You'll Learn
  • How professional teams in culinary, golf, and guest services work day-to-day
  • Guest service skills: communication, empathy, problem-solving, and service recovery
  • Time management, teamwork, and attention to detail
  • The variety of career paths in hospitality and what might be a great fit for you
  • How your role connects to the bigger picture of running a resort
  • What We're Looking For
You'll be a great fit if you:
  • Are a high school or college student interested in hospitality, culinary arts, tourism, golf, recreation, or customer service
  • Enjoy working with people and being part of a team
  • Are comfortable with some repetitive tasks (they're part of any real operation!)
  • Can manage your time, follow direction, and show up reliably
  • Are willing to work flexible hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Are open-minded, eager to learn, and willing to step in where needed
Job Requirements:
  • Comfort with following standard procedures and checklists
  • Ability to manage time well and meet assigned tasks and timelines
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (4-5 hours at a time)
  • Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to read basic labels (such as cleaning or food products) and communicate clearly in writing when needed (simple notes, incident logs, etc.)
Education and Experience:
  • High school students: Actively enrolled and interested in hospitality, culinary, tourism, business, or a related field
  • College students: Enrolled in or exploring Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Business, Recreation, Tourism, or related programs (preferred but not required)
  • A valid driver's license may be required for certain roles involving company vehicles
Why Grand View Lodge Internship?
  • Hands-on experience at a renowned Minnesota resort
  • A chance to focus in your area of interest instead of rotating through everything
  • Learn from experienced leaders, chefs, golf pros, and guest service professionals
  • Build your resume and references for future jobs and college/career opportunities
  • Potential pathway into future seasonal, part-time, or full-time roles at Grand View Lodge
