Jr. Instructional Designer (CCO)

Location: Hybrid – Pensacola, FL (3 days onsite per week)

Employment Type: W2 Contract

Pay Rate: $20–$26/hr (includes 56 hours of paid time off)

Business Unit: Design Team 01 | GPO & CCO

Experience Level: 1–5 years

Openings: 1 (Maximum 3 submissions)

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens, Green Card Holders, TN Visa, Green Card EAD

Portfolio Requirement: Multiple work samples or portfolio required with submission

Role Overview

The Jr. Instructional Designer is responsible for planning, designing, developing, and evaluating instructional solutions that support Navy Federal’s business and performance goals. This role collaborates with business partners, trainers, and subject matter experts to create effective learning experiences across classroom, virtual, and self-paced environments. The position requires strong instructional design expertise, creativity, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop instructional content for classroom, virtual, and self-paced learning programs
  • Apply instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles to create effective learning solutions
  • Conduct learning needs assessments and analyze performance gaps to recommend training solutions
  • Convert instructor-led training (ILT) content into engaging eLearning formats
  • Develop interactive eLearning using current technologies, including training games, graphics, and multimedia elements
  • Create and maintain learning activities in the LMS, assign required training, and generate custom reports
  • Collaborate with trainers, SMEs, and stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and instructional effectiveness
  • Evaluate course effectiveness using assessments, feedback, and analytics; recommend and implement improvements
  • Refresh and update training materials throughout their lifecycle to align with changing business needs
  • Support trainers by analyzing course evaluation results and providing recommendations
  • Participate in instructional design project teams with multiple deliverables and varying levels of complexity
  • Present instructional content and project updates to stakeholders, including leadership
  • Train internal team members on the effective use of instructional materials and learning environments
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of instructional design or curriculum development experience, or equivalent education
  • Advanced knowledge of instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM)
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory
  • Proficiency with Articulate Rise and Storyline
  • Experience designing eLearning and converting ILT to self-paced learning
  • Strong visual design, content development, and multimedia skills
  • Experience evaluating learning effectiveness and measuring training outcomes
  • Ability to research, analyze, and translate complex information into clear instructional content
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research abilities
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency with LMS platforms, database tools, and presentation software
  • Ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads and shifting priorities
