Job Summary

Under the direction of the Tool Room Manager, the Mold Designer is responsible for all design-related requirements of the Tool Room. This will include Data management, stamping and extrusion dies, replacement components, new molds, and manufacturing needs involved during tool builds.

Essential Functions:

\n
• Responsible for all data management based on Tool Room needs.
\n
• Full mold/tool design as required.
\n
• Assist in tooling (project management) from conception to mold/tool completion.
\n
• Ensure that all tooling forms/paperwork are being filled out properly.
\n
• Assist in coordinating work with outside tooling houses.
\n
• Attend design reviews as required.
\n

Other Functions

\n
• Work with QA on quality issues
\n
• Perform other tasks as assigned
\n
• Assist in maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality Management System and ISO 14001 certification by supporting corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation
\n
• Required Personal Protective Equipment * safety shoes are to be worn at all times during your scheduled work hours. * Department manager/supervisor will cover additional PPE as required on department-specific work instructions.
\n

Key Competencies

\n
• Full mold design abilities, parting line development, and solid modeling.
\n
• Ensure that all plant rules, policies, and procedures are being adhered to.
\n
• Maintain CAD databases for replacement components and new tooling.
\n
• Ensure that all tooling forms/paperwork are being filled out properly.
\n
• Assist in coordinating work with outside tooling houses.
\n

Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience)

\n
• Associate degree or Tool & Die Apprentice certificate from an accredited institution.
\n
• Prior experience with CAD software required.
\n
• 5 years' experience in plastic injection mold design.
\n
• Experience in creating mold parting lines.
\n
• Experience in stamping dies helpful.
\n
• Prior Tool Room experience.
\n
