Job Description
We are looking for a full-time senior attorney who has worked primarily or exclusively in Massachusetts probate and family court for at least 5 years. We can't hire an attorney who has minimally worked in family law or has minimally worked in Massachusetts, so please only apply if you have the experience we're seeking. Here is a bit more about the job:
*Responsibilities include:*
* Represent clients through a variety of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, modifications, enforcement/contempt, name changes, guardianships, and adoptions.
* Manage a case load, representing clients with a variety of case types and complexities from intake through resolution.
* Prepare for and appear at all case events, including court events, settlement conferences, depositions, and the like.
* Negotiating cases to fair and equitable resolutions whenever possible and taking cases to trial when reasonable settlement is unattainable.
* Develop and manage case strategy, as the facts and needs of the case evolve.
* Develop discovery strategy for each case, determining evidentiary needs and the optimal timing of requests to support your case strategy.
* Perform legal research and writing.
* Draft and review court filings, discovery requests, discovery responses, and correspondence.
* Delegate to associate attorneys and paralegals with appropriate lead time and consideration.
*Requirements to be Considered for this Position:*
* Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree.
* Licensed to practice law and in good standing in New Hampshire.
* 5+ years of experience primarily handling family law matters in New Hampshire.
* A comprehensive understanding of complex financial issues arising in divorces, such as business valuations, complex compensation packages, equity interests, forensic accounting, and vocational assessments.
* A comprehensive understanding of complex child custody cases, such as removal cases and cases involving substance use disorder, mental illness, mental health disorders, and domestic violence.
* A history of and willingness to take cases to trial when fair and reasonable settlement is otherwise unattainable.
* Compassion for clients going through divorces and other family law matters and a commitment to produce excellent work.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Excellent legal research and writing skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Excellent time management and case management skills.
* Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Reliable transportation.
* A commitment to working in the office 2-3 days a week.
*The Following are not Requirements but Would be Great:*
* Certified Financial Litigator designation.
* Experience litigating international cases and/or appeals.
* Experience using Clio, Smart Advocate, or other practice management software.
* Interest in working towards Partner.

Turco Legal is one of the largest boutique family law firms in Massachusetts, now opening our first New Hampshire office in Manchester. While we have attorneys on our team licensed in New Hampshire and have handled family law matters in the state for years, this office will be a home base for our NH team.
The firm, as a whole, is formidable. Our partners and senior attorneys handle a wide range of sophisticated matters, from cases with complex financials and child custody issues to family law appeals, Hague Convention cases in federal court, and more. Our associate attorneys are equally as busy, and are the engine that powers our robust access to justice low bono program, Justice for All, in which we lower our attorney rates to as low as $75 an hour.
All in all, we're a team of highly experienced divorce and family law attorneys and support staff. We have 20 attorneys, most of whom have 15-35 years of experience, with each member having individual expertise and unique litigation experiences. We have certified financial litigators, guardian ad litems, an ARC counsel, a collaboratively trained attorney, and mediators among the team. Partners and senior attorneys may delegate work to associate attorneys at their discretion.
Our paralegal team is highly capable and experienced and members support each other as needed given the workload. Paralegals typically support 2-4 attorneys, but with a team approach, we can flex to the needs of the business. Every member of our team is available to provide perspective and insight on case issues as they arise. They'll also call you on you periodically for your insights.
