General Description:
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Chemotherapy and Administration and Consultation: Administers PO, SC injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by physician: consults with other medical personnel and may provide expert information about chemotherapy, side effects, etc.; provides a variety of assistance to physicians.
- Assumes responsibility for clinic specific assignments.
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients.
- Assists physician during conscious sedation patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. -Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary.
- Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Delivers patient care competently.
- Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the clinic, time of discharge, and continued care via phone triage.
- Informs patient and family of clinic procedures.
- Patient Education: Provides chemotherapy related educational information to patients, family, etc.; answers inquiries and provides guidance as appropriate.
- Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegates tasks to support staff.
- Patient Follow Up: Schedules patient follow-up activities related to their treatment and assists with coordination of care by obtaining referrals and completing phone calls with the patients after their clinic visits.
General Responsibilities:

- 1 year of experience.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Some computer skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- N/A Required Education:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association.
- ACLS (American Heart Association).
- Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
QUALIFICATION/LICENSURE
Work Authorization : US Citizen
Preferred years of experience : 2 years
Travel required : All travelers must be willing to float within all OU Health facilities, as necessary
