About the position:
The Field Trips and Operations Coordinator oversees administration and booking of all traveling and onsite Field Trips throughout the school year, as well as provides onsite support at both our Echo Park and Mar Vista sites. The Field Trips and Operations Coordinator also provides additional support to the Operations team as needed to advance our organizational goals.
The primary role of the Field Trips and Operations Coordinator is to recruit, develop, and sustain relationships with local educators and target schools, with the goal of providing free, writing-based field trips to a community of underserved students as outlined by 826LA’s strategic plan. A secondary but equally important role of the Field Trips and Operations Coordinator is to work closely with both the Echo Park and Mar Vista programming teams and the Community Engagement Team to ensure all Field Trips are adequately staffed.
With the support of the Community Engagement Team, the The Field Trips and Operations Coordinator is also responsible for developing and leading teams of volunteers and interns participating in the Field Trips program.
The Field Trips and Operations Coordinator implements and refines a writing curriculum for younger students focused on sparking an excitement for writing through publication, including an introduction to basic storytelling structure, poetry, and the choose your own adventure genre, as well as curriculum for older students focused on personal narrative.
During the summer, The Field Trips and Operations Coordinator co-leads 826LA’s Write On! Summer Camp in Mar Vista along with the Tutoring and In-Schools Programs Coordinator, and assists with onboarding, supervising, and offboarding a team of Summer interns to support the camp.
The Field Trips Programs Coordinator reports directly to the Programs & Operations Manager based out of Mar Vista.
This position is full time, non-except, Monday through Friday, with the flexibility to work occasionally on evenings and weekends.
This position requires the ability to travel to both our Echo Park and Mar Vista sites on a weekly basis.
